Katelyn Fletcher

Katelyn Fletcher is a doctoral student in the Developmental Psychology program at NYU Steinhardt. Her research focuses on infant and toddler language learning and play and the supportive role of caregivers in early life development. Fletcher is interested in how parents from diverse cultural communities and in the context of poverty foster children’s everyday play and language skills. Currently, she is investigating how features of infants’ natural home environments shape opportunities for learning through play. Before coming to NYU, Fletcher completed her B.S. in Human Development at Cornell University with a minor in Education. After graduating, she worked as an elementary teaching resident, earned her M.Ed., and served as lab manager of a research lab focused on literacy interventions for preschoolers from low-income communities.
